  • Cast on 24 to 28 chain stitches to establish a 40-inch wide base.

  • To knit Row 1: Working from right to left, pull a loop of working yarn from back to front through each chain stitch, keeping loops 1.5 inches tall.

  • To knit Row 2: Working back from left to right, pull a new loop through each existing loop.
