A dramatic, high-contrast coaster inspired by Spanish Nero Marquina marble. A deep, glossy jet-black resin base is fractured with fine, branching veins of metallic gold leafing.

Step-by-Step DIY Execution Guide

  • Mix 150ml of clear epoxy resin. Mix 85% with rich black resin paste (ensure it is fully opaque when held to the light).

  • Pour the black resin into four round silicone coaster molds, filling them almost to the brim.

  • Mix the remaining 15% clear resin with rich metallic gold mica powder and a drop of gold alcohol ink.

  • Drizzle the metallic gold mixture in jagged, lightning-bolt fracture lines across the black resin surface.

  • Use the low-speed, low-heat setting on a heat gun to gently blow and spread the gold veins, creating a shimmering, feathered lacing effect.

  • Torch the surface to remove bubbles and let cure for 24 hours.

  • Paint the outer edge rim with liquid gold leaf using a fine-detail flat brush.
