3. Easy Polymer Clay Turtle
Turtles are perfect for beginners because they use very basic shapes. The shell is simply a dome which you can make by pressing a ball slightly flat. Use green or brown clay for the body and a contrasting color for the shell. For more detail, draw lines with a sculpting tool to create the look of shell scales.
Make small stubby legs, a short tail, and a round head with tiny eyes. Place the head slightly forward to give the turtle character. You can even make miniature baby turtles that look adorable as desk accessories.
Turtles also work well as keychains because the shell gives good support for attaching hardware.
