Learn how to gather fabric strips! A 2-inch gathered fabric ruffle is basted around the outer perimeter of the front square before the envelope back panels are sewn on.
Key Sewing Steps
- Cut a long fabric strip twice the total perimeter length of your pillow front.
- Run two parallel basting (long) stitches along one raw edge and pull bobbin threads to gather evenly.
- Pin the gathered ruffle around the front panel’s raw edge (ruffle facing inward) and baste in place.
- Sandwich the overlapping back panels on top and sew the final perimeter seam.
