Step-by-Step DIY Execution Guide

  • Cut a toilet paper tube in half lengthwise to create a rounded arch for the book spine.

  • Glue thin cotton string horizontally across the curved cardboard arch at 1-inch intervals to simulate raised leather spine ribs.

  • Cut two pieces of heavy chipboard for the front and back book covers and attach them to the curved spine.

  • Wrap the entire exterior in dark brown kraft paper or faux leather vinyl, smoothing it tightly over the raised string ribs with a bone folder.

  • Paint with dark brown acrylic paint and dry-brush with metallic gold paint to highlight the ribs and title.
