Eco-friendly, zero-waste seedling pots for starting garden herbs and vegetables. The bottom is folded into a self-supporting base and planted directly into garden soil.

Step-by-Step DIY Execution Guide

  • Take 6 to 12 cardboard toilet paper tubes.

  • Make four 0.75-inch vertical cuts evenly spaced around one end of each tube.

  • Fold the resulting four flaps over one another in a box-bottom weave (like closing a cardboard box) to form a flat, enclosed bottom.

  • Fill each tube with seed-starting soil mix, tamping down lightly.

  • Plant your seeds (tomatoes, basil, peppers) and place the tubes upright in a shallow, waterproof tray.

  • Water regularly. Once seedlings sprout and develop true leaves, plant the entire cardboard pot directly into the outdoor soil (the cardboard decomposes naturally).
