This internal maze-like baffle stops wind, blowing rain, and drifting snow from entering the sleeping zone, keeping the resting compartment dry and calm during storms. It also shields resting felines from the direct sightlines of curious predators, creating a secure, den-like atmosphere that encourages skittish cats to settle inside comfortably.
Start fabrication by measuring the inside dimensions of the plastic tote, cutting five individual panels of one-inch rigid foam board to cover the base, four sidewalls, and the underside of the snap-on lid. Coat the backs of the foam panels with foam-safe construction adhesive or secure them firmly using waterproof foil tape along all intersecting seams, ensuring there are no open air gaps.
