Step-by-Step DIY Execution Guide

  • Take 50 feet of 7/32-inch 100% cotton clothesline. Tightly fold the first 1 inch back on itself to create the center base core.

  • Set your sewing machine to a wide zigzag stitch. Stitch back and forth across the initial core to secure it.

  • Coil the rope continuously counterclockwise around the core, keeping the base flat against the machine bed while the needle bridges between the inner and outer coils.

  • Continue sewing flat coils until the base measures 8 inches in diameter.

  • To build walls: Tilt the flat base upward at a 90-degree angle against the machine arm. As you feed and stitch the rope, the upright angle naturally forces the coils to build vertical walls.

  • Sew 15 vertical wall rows (approx. 5 inches tall). Taper the rope end to an angle, tuck it inside the top rim, and backstitch securely.

  • Cut two $6times0.75$-inch strips of 5-oz cognac leather. Punch holes at both ends and fasten to opposite sides of the top rim using brass double-cap rivets.
