Step-by-Step DIY Execution Guide

  • Source 200 feet of 5/16-inch thick cotton clothesline or poly-core rope.

  • Sew a wide 16-inch flat circular base using heavy-duty bonded polyester thread.

  • Transition the base to vertical walls by holding the base perpendicular to the sewing machine needle.

  • Maintain firm inward pressure while feeding rope to prevent the basket walls from flaring outward into an open cone.

  • Sew 28 to 32 rows upward to build an 18-inch tall cylinder.

  • At row 30, leave 6-inch open spans on opposite sides to form integrated top handles. Stitch two reinforcing rows directly over the handle arches.

  • Backstitch 4 times over the handle anchor points for structural reinforcement.
